Remember the wedding at the beginning of The Godfather? A 1975 ceremony in Grosse Pointe Woods drew inspiration from the film. According to an Associated Press report, a string ensemble played Nino Rota’s iconic theme just before the couple took their vows.
The 23-year-old bride, Nina Giacalone, is pictured with her groom, 22-year-old Joseph Tringale, whose father was the head of a local produce packaging company. Nina’s father was none other than Vito “Billy Jack” Giacalone, who served as capo in the notorious Detroit Partnership. Billy Jack passed away in 2012.
